Apple launches Xcode 26.3: Claude and Codex now write code directly
Xcode now integrates AI agents from Anthropic and OpenAI, and through MCP any other compatible agent can connect.

On February 3, Apple announced Xcode 26.3. This release brings agentic coding into the main tool for building iPhone and Mac apps.
What's new?
- Anthropic's Claude Agent and OpenAI's Codex work directly inside Xcode
- Xcode exposes its capabilities over MCP (Model Context Protocol), so any MCP-compatible agent can connect
- You can choose the model, for example GPT-5.2-Codex or GPT-5.1 mini
- Xcode creates a milestone after every agent change, so you can easily roll back
When is it available?
- The Release Candidate is available now to all Apple developers
- The public release comes later on the App Store
- Apple also held a "code-along" workshop
