TSMC’s Q2 results put 2nm at 3% of wafer revenue
The company published its second-quarter results July 16. A July 17 report examines revenue, profit and the mix of chipmaking technologies.

TSMC published its second-quarter 2026 results on July 16, covering the period ended June 30. Consolidated revenue was NT$1,270.38 billion and net income was NT$706.56 billion. This July 17 report examines the information in that release.
The technology mix
| Technology | Share of wafer revenue |
|---|---|
| 2nm | 3% |
| 3nm | 30% |
| 5nm | 33% |
| 7nm | 11% |
TSMC reports that 7nm and more advanced technologies accounted for 77% of wafer revenue. That measures revenue share, not the same percentage of all chips manufactured.
The distinction matters because revenue and unit counts describe different things. Products can differ in price and size, so a revenue table alone does not provide a count of every type of chip.
Revenue and profit growth
In New Taiwan dollars, revenue increased 36% and net income increased 77.4% from the same quarter of 2025. The company also reports revenue equivalent to US$40.20 billion.
Reading those figures requires keeping the currency explicit: NT$ denotes New Taiwan dollars, while US$ denotes US dollars. Revenue and net income also have different meanings; profit reflects the relevant costs and accounting items.
A useful comparison uses the same period and currency. That helps distinguish a business change from a difference in how a figure is presented and avoids comparing amounts denominated in different currencies as though they were identical units.
Why the technology mix matters
The revenue mix offers a view into the foundry’s manufacturing business. Readers following phone and computer processors can use it to examine part of the production activity behind finished-product names.
Each measure still has a boundary. Wafer revenue, consolidated revenue and net income describe different scopes. Maintaining those distinctions makes the announcement easier to interpret accurately.
A reader can compare the table with a later disclosure using the same definitions. It should not automatically become a prediction of sales for a specific phone: the report describes TSMC’s activity during a period rather than counting its customers’ finished devices.
The significance of the disclosure is the combination of an announced financial result and a technology distribution that can be followed over time. A useful reading connects each number to its period, currency and definition, and separates those observations from further inferences.
