Samsung unveils Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8 with three different priorities
Samsung’s July 22 London launch introduces a new display shape for Fold8, a larger productivity focus for Ultra and faster cover-screen interaction for Flip8. Content layout is central to the differences.

Samsung unveiled Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 in London on July 22, 2026. The lineup offers three priorities: a larger workspace, a different shape for viewing and reading, and quick interaction from a cover display.
Fold8 changes the shape of the canvas
Samsung’s official first look describes a 5.5-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch main display on Fold8. Their aspect ratios are 10:16 and 4:3 respectively.
Aspect ratio affects how content occupies the available space. A book page, a landscape video and a vertical clip each have different proportions. Comparing the same everyday content can therefore reveal more than comparing diagonal measurements alone.
| Model | Samsung’s stated weight | Typical battery capacity |
|---|---|---|
| Fold8 | 201g | 4,800mAh |
| Fold8 Ultra | 215g | 5,000mAh |
These specifications describe part of the hardware. Actual usage time also depends on tasks and settings, making a representative working day a useful basis for a battery evaluation.
Ultra combines a workspace with camera hardware
Fold8 Ultra has an 8-inch main display. Samsung’s launch announcement specifies a 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera and 45W wired charging.
For a content creator, an informative evaluation could follow an entire task: capture a short piece, choose the shots, edit them and prepare the result for publication. That exercise would show how the camera and display work together during a familiar workflow.
For writing, a reference document alongside a text editor provides another practical comparison. The ability to read the source comfortably and move between applications becomes an observable part of assessing the larger screen.
Keeping the files and applications consistent across devices would make either comparison more meaningful.
Flip8 emphasizes quick cover-screen tasks
Samsung highlights Now Brief and access to information and actions through Flip8’s FlexWindow. This approach could suit checking a message or handling a short task before opening the main display.
AI availability varies by market and language. At announcement, Samsung lists Gemini Intelligence automation for the United States and Korea, supporting US English and Korean.
Pre-orders begin in selected markets on July 22. AT&T separately identifies August 7 for general availability in the United States. That announcement does not establish a confirmed date for Kurdistan.
The lineup’s significance is the wider choice of physical designs. Reading, shooting and everyday work provide concrete ways to understand the differences among the three models.
