Ricursive Intelligence raised $335M in four months
A startup that uses AI to design chips is now valued at $4 billion. Its founders created Google's AlphaChip.

What does Ricursive do?
Ricursive Intelligence uses AI to design chips. Designing a chip by hand can take a year or more; the founders say their approach can produce a high-quality chip layout in about six hours.
The funding
- Seed: $35 million led by Sequoia.
- A few months later, Series A: $300 million led by Lightspeed, at a $4 billion valuation.
- Total: $335 million in about four months.
Nvidia (through NVentures) and DST are also investors.
The founders
- Anna Goldie, CEO.
- Azalia Mirhoseini, CTO.
Both worked at Google Brain and were early employees at Anthropic. They created AlphaChip, the AI system used to design three generations of Google's TPU chips.
The goal
Goldie says they could deliver "almost a 10x improvement in performance per total cost of ownership." Target customers are chip makers such as AMD and Intel.
