Instagram expands to Samsung TVs while exploring longer video
The June 22 expansion adds Samsung devices and raises practical questions for creators about viewing from across the room.

What did Meta announce?
On June 22, 2026, Meta made Instagram for TV available on Samsung smart TVs from model year 2020 onwards in the United States. It also discussed exploring longer videos, series and live formats. Those plans do not mean every format launched that day.
US availability should not be taken as confirmation of availability in Iraq.
How did the TV experience begin?
Instagram began testing its TV app on Amazon Fire TV in December 2025, then expanded to US Google TV devices in February 2026. Meta's original description also covers separate accounts and says TV viewing counts toward Teen Account usage limits.
Amazon's own announcement describes creator search and personalized recommendations for people in the household. The concept is therefore more than simply mirroring a phone screen: it offers a separate way to find and follow videos.
What matters for creators?
Our interpretation is that TV viewing gives creators a reason to review sound, text and storytelling. Small lettering may work when a viewer holds a phone nearby but become difficult to read from a sofa.
For a technology video, clear narration and visible demonstrations can be more useful than covering the image in words. That is an editorial recommendation for adapting content, not a new app capability.
The opening also deserves a test: could someone watching with family understand the topic quickly, or would they need to read a tiny title or consult a description outside the picture?
Should creators remake everything?
We would not treat an expansion announcement as a reason to reproduce an entire back catalogue. A more useful first step is to test a limited selection on a television, examining text size, audio clarity and whether the explanation remains understandable without constant phone interaction.
Broader decisions should then follow audience response rather than launch publicity alone. Another distribution surface can create an opportunity, but it does not guarantee higher viewing figures or revenue for every creator. It also remains essential to distinguish a feature available now from a format the company is still exploring.
