Google opens preorders for five Googlebook models starting at $899
The September 21 announcement sets out the hardware lineup and early-October retail dates. The starting price does not describe every configuration or establish local pricing.

Google announced details of five Googlebook models and opened preorders on September 21, 2026, with prices starting at $899. It set retail availability for October 4 in the United States and October 5 in six other markets. Those store-arrival dates remain in the future at the time of this report.
The lineup includes Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo. Google's announcement identifies Intel Core Ultra Series 3 or Snapdragon X Elite processor options at launch and a baseline of 16GB of RAM. These are manufacturer specifications, rather than independent findings from testing the computers.
A shared name does not make every model identical
For a laptop buyer, the category name is only the beginning of a comparison. The full model, processor, memory and connection ports in a particular offer need to be identified. Two machines in the same family could suit different uses, and an image showing the whole lineup cannot establish the qualities of each unit.
For example, a student reading documents might prioritize weight and portability. A programmer who depends on particular tools needs evidence about running those tools on the selected configuration. An AI-oriented product name does not establish that every required program will work unchanged.
It is also useful to turn broad descriptions into questions that can be checked. Rather than accepting “good for work” as a complete specification, a buyer could identify the actual applications, file types and accessories involved in their work and look for evidence of compatibility with them.
Start with daily tasks
Writing down three or four representative tasks can make a purchasing comparison more concrete. Large documents, video calls and work without an internet connection each create different requirements. These are proposed evaluation methods, not results of our own Googlebook testing.
Included services deserve a separate reading of their terms and duration. A buyer should understand what an introductory offer covers, what may require continuation later and whether a service is available in their region and language. The advertised value of a subscription is not automatically the same as its value to someone who will not use it.
The $899 figure is a starting price, not the price of every configuration. The announcement also does not establish retail prices or warranty arrangements in Kurdistan. A local decision therefore needs the exact model and seller's terms, with preorder availability kept distinct from the delivery date.
The new development is a move from the previously introduced category to specific models, prices and schedules. Actual performance still requires independent testing rather than inference from the launch description.
