Android 17 reaches Pixel with Bubble Bar and new Gemini features
Google began its stable Pixel rollout alongside updates covering multitasking, the Pixel ecosystem and Wear OS 7.

The stable release arrives
Google launched the stable version of Android 17 on June 16, 2026, beginning with supported Pixel phones. The release coincided with additional Pixel features and Wear OS 7. The operating-system update and device-specific features should be distinguished.
Multitasking and controls
Bubble Bar makes it easier to access apps in floating windows on larger screens. The announcement also covered a foldable gaming mode using a 50/50 screen split.
Other additions included parental screen-time controls protected by a PIN without linking a Google account, plus a Mark as Lost option in Find Hub.
Gemini and Pixel additions
The announcement included Gemini Omni video editing within conversations and Lyria 3 music generation from text or images. Quick Share compatibility with AirDrop was also extended to Pixel 8a and Pixel 9a.
Watches and availability
Pixel Watch safety features described in the announcement covered car crashes, falls and loss of pulse, with automatic calls for help where the feature's requirements are met. Google also said Wear OS 7 could improve battery life by up to 10%.
Receiving Android 17 does not mean that every associated feature is available on every handset. Support depends on the device, market and requirements of the individual service.
