## The ruling

Judge Beth Bloom in Florida denied Tesla's request to overturn the $243 million jury verdict. The order says: "Tesla does not present additional arguments or controlling law that persuades this Court to alter its earlier decisions."

## The case

- In 2019, a Tesla using Autopilot crashed in Florida.
- Naibel Benavides was killed and Dillon Angulo was injured.
- In August 2025, the jury assigned two-thirds of the blame to the driver and one-third to Tesla.
- Punitive damages were assessed against Tesla only.

## Why it matters

It is one of the largest court verdicts against Tesla's Autopilot system and could influence similar cases.
