# OpenAI teams up with Tata on a major data center in India

## The agreement

OpenAI announced it is the first customer of HyperVault, the data center business of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). It starts with 100 megawatts of capacity, with potential to scale to 1 gigawatt over time.

The project is part of OpenAI's Stargate initiative to build AI infrastructure worldwide. Financial terms were not disclosed.

## Tata adopts AI too

- ChatGPT Enterprise will roll out across Tata, starting with hundreds of thousands of TCS employees.
- TCS will use OpenAI's Codex for software development.

- More than 100 million people in India use ChatGPT every week.
- OpenAI will open new offices in Mumbai and Bengaluru later this year, joining its New Delhi office.
- More than 100,000 ChatGPT Edu licenses will go to education partners.
