# OpenAI signs a deal reportedly worth over $10 billion with Cerebras for faster responses

On January 14, **OpenAI** announced a multi-year agreement with AI chipmaker **Cerebras**.

## The deal

- Cerebras will deliver **750 megawatts** of compute to OpenAI
- Starting this year and running through **2028**
- Worth **more than $10 billion**, according to a person familiar with the deal and Reuters (neither company confirmed the figure)

## Why

Both companies say the goal is **faster responses** for OpenAI's users, especially for answers that take longer to process.

OpenAI's **Sachin Katti** said: "Cerebras adds a dedicated low-latency inference solution to our platform."

## About Cerebras

- Filed for an IPO in 2024 but has postponed it several times
- Sam Altman is already an investor
- OpenAI once considered acquiring the company
