# Azure passes $100 billion in annual revenue as Microsoft closes FY2026

> Microsoft reported $90 billion in fourth-quarter revenue and said Microsoft 365 Copilot exceeded 30 million paid seats. The results put cloud scale and enterprise AI adoption in focus.

Microsoft announced results for its fourth quarter and fiscal year ended June 30 on July 29, 2026. Quarterly revenue reached $90 billion, up 18% from the corresponding period a year earlier.

The company said Azure annual revenue exceeded $100 billion for the first time. Microsoft 365 Copilot also passed 30 million paid seats.

## A quarter and a year describe different periods

| Measure | Period | Reported revenue |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft overall | Fourth quarter | $90.0 billion |
| Microsoft Cloud | Same quarter | $59.3 billion |
| Microsoft overall | Fiscal year 2026 | $331.8 billion |
| Azure | Same fiscal year | More than $100 billion |

Each figure needs both an activity label and a reporting period. Comparing a full year with a single quarter without identifying the difference makes growth harder to interpret.

One useful approach is to read the comparable quarterly figures together, then move to the annual figures. That keeps the scale of the business visible without mixing the periods being measured.

## What Microsoft Cloud includes

Microsoft’s financial review defines Microsoft Cloud as including Azure, Microsoft 365 Commercial cloud, the commercial portion of LinkedIn and Dynamics 365.

This combined measure describes activities already represented in the company’s detailed results. A reader therefore needs to check definitions before adding figures together, because two measures can contain some of the same revenue.

In a general accounting example, adding a subsidiary activity’s revenue to an overall total that already includes it would count that activity twice. Understanding the boundary of each measure makes the results easier to read.

## What paid Copilot seats tell readers

Paid seats provide an indicator of the product’s reach into organizations. Understanding everyday usage involves additional questions: who uses it, for which tasks, and how are the results reviewed?

One team might summarize meetings, while another prepares document drafts. In either case, completion time and the usefulness of the output provide different information from the number of seats available.

A team could evaluate a familiar task before expanding its use, defining the expected outcome and review process in advance. That connects the discussion with work employees actually perform.

For technology readers, these results highlight the scale of Microsoft’s cloud activity and Copilot’s enterprise reach. Keeping each measure’s definition and period clear helps connect those adoption indicators with the practical questions of daily use.
