# Meta Glasses start at $299 as the companies target a wider audience

## Who is the new range for?
Meta and EssilorLuxottica announced Meta Glasses on June 23, 2026, aiming to broaden the audience for AI eyewear. Their original release set a $299 starting price and described three frame shapes with lens choices including prescription options.

Launch markets included the US, Canada, UK and several European countries. Iraq was not named in the initial list. Prices are in US dollars; local prices in Kurdistan may differ.

## Camera, sound and AI
Meta describes photo and video capture, open-ear audio and a dedicated Meta AI button. It claims over eight hours of battery life, with up to forty additional hours from the charging case. These are manufacturer figures, not measurements from our testing.

## Questions before buying
Our interpretation is that the entry price answers only part of the purchase question. Anyone needing prescription lenses should ask for the final cost of the required configuration. A specification sheet also cannot replace checking the fit: something worn on the face for long periods needs to be comfortable in practice.

For a buyer in Kurdistan, service availability and supported languages add another set of questions. Importing the hardware does not automatically establish that every AI function will work in the destination country or the buyer's preferred language.

We would therefore check the particular function that matters, rather than rely on a general promise of AI support. Someone buying for recording, listening or assistance may need a different kind of demonstration in each case.

## What about video creators?
Before using glasses as a primary recording tool, we would examine actual video, sound and battery performance under conditions resembling the intended work. Respect for nearby people's privacy also matters when recording; convenience is not a substitute for consent.

An announced feature should remain separate from independently demonstrated performance. This article documents a launch, not a hands-on verdict or a recording-quality test. The value of a lower price becomes clearer when available functions, comfort and final cost match a person's needs, rather than when the headline figure alone looks attractive.
