# Google launches two new AI chips to compete with Nvidia

> The eighth-generation TPU splits into TPU 8t for training and TPU 8i for inference, with up to 3x faster training.

## What's new
At Cloud Next, Google unveiled its eighth-generation **TPU** chips, now split into two:
- **TPU 8t**: for training models.
- **TPU 8i**: for running models (inference).

## Google's claims
- Up to **3x faster** model training.
- **80%** better performance per dollar.
- More than **1 million TPUs** working together in a single cluster.

## Nvidia
- Google will also offer Nvidia's **Vera Rubin** chips later this year.
- The two companies will collaborate on Google's **Falcon** networking software.

Nvidia is worth nearly $5 trillion, and Google wants a bigger share of that market.
