# OpenAI launches ChatGPT Health, a dedicated space for health questions

On January 7, **OpenAI** announced **ChatGPT Health**, a dedicated section of ChatGPT for health and wellness conversations, rolling out over the coming weeks.

## Why

OpenAI says more than **230 million** people ask ChatGPT health questions every week. **Fidji Simo**, OpenAI's CEO of Applications, framed it as a response to high costs, overbooked doctors and a lack of continuity in care.

## How it works

- Health chats are kept **separate** from other conversations
- If you ask a health question elsewhere, ChatGPT nudges you to switch to Health
- You can connect apps such as **Apple Health**, **MyFitnessPal** and **Function**
- OpenAI says Health conversations **won't be used to train its models**

OpenAI's own terms say ChatGPT is **not intended for diagnosing or treating** any condition. For anything serious, see a doctor.

A big step, but protecting health data is critical. AI can help; it should not replace your doctor.
