## What happened
On March 26, Judge **Rita F. Lin** of the US District Court for the Northern District of California ruled in Anthropic's favor.

The judge ordered the Trump administration to:
- Rescind its "supply-chain risk" designation of Anthropic.
- Back off its order that federal agencies cut ties with the company.

The judge reportedly said: "It looks like an attempt to cripple Anthropic."

## How the dispute started
- Anthropic wanted limits on military use of Claude, such as autonomous weapons and mass surveillance.
- The Defense Department labeled Anthropic a supply-chain risk, a designation usually reserved for foreign actors.
- Anthropic sued the department and Defense Secretary Hegseth.

## Anthropic's response
"We're grateful to the court for moving swiftly," the company said.
