## The numbers
According to Ramp's May 2026 **AI Index**, covering more than **50,000 companies**:

| Company | Share of paying businesses |
|---|---|
| Anthropic | 34.4% |
| OpenAI | 32.3% |

## A year of change
- In May 2025, only **9%** of businesses paid for Anthropic.
- OpenAI's share fell by about **1%** over the same period.

## Why
Ramp economist Ara Kharazian said Anthropic already led in high-adoption sectors like **finance**, **tech** and **professional services**.

Note: the data covers Ramp customers only, mostly US businesses.
