# Anthropic adds plugins to Cowork so Claude can handle department work

About two weeks after launching **Cowork**, **Anthropic** added **plugins** to it on January 30.

## What do plugins do?

Plugins automate specialised tasks for company departments, such as:

- Writing **marketing** drafts
- Reviewing **legal risks**
- Answering **customer support** requests

## Key points

- Anthropic released **11** of its in-house plugins as **open source**
- Available to **all paid Claude subscribers**
- For now they are saved locally on your computer; a tool for sharing them across an organisation is "on the way"
- Plugins were already available in **Claude Code**
