# Anthropic: three Chinese labs used 24,000 fake accounts to learn from Claude

## What was revealed?

Anthropic said three Chinese AI labs, DeepSeek, Moonshot AI and MiniMax, used about 24,000 fraudulent accounts to extract data from Claude.

The technique is called distillation: a company collects a stronger model's answers and uses them to train its own model.
